As I’ve said before, if you’re just starting out, give yourself at least 3 weeks (or more) to acclimate to this way of life. You need time to plan, clean out your pantry (Diet Doctor Pantry Cleanout), restock it with appropriate items (Start here and help support this blog!), and get your habits in order.
Anywho, back to DJ Foodie... After reading his book, I sat down and made myself a blank menu template. I needed a guide to tell me what to eat when, and to keep up with how many carbs I was consuming. My original menu literally only contained his recipes. They’re just a tad awesome. Today, my planner is much more tailored to my everyday needs. Having lived this way for so long, my habits are established and most of my meal planning has become second nature. I now have about 4 weeks of rotating menus, (which I hope to share here soon!) so that on my busy weeks I can just pull those out, cross off the items that I already have, and head to the store without blinking an eye!
My menu planner includes tips and tricks to remind you what to eat at each meal throughout the day, as well as what limits to stay within. I have included a printable template for daily/weekly menu planning and a shopping list template.
